Weaning

Baby is 5.5 months and we've started trying to wean with veg purees, the first day my baby was really keen and happy to take off a spoon but since then they're completely not interested, turning head away completely and really doesn't want it. Does this mean it's too early? Do I carry on? Do I stop? Do I try a different approach? Help please 😫

Maybe try baby led instead ?

Id give it a few days then try again if still not interested try some finger foods but it's still early try not to worry too much food is just for fun x

@Emily I did think this, we just tried some Carrot puff things as its all I had and she seemed keen. BLW scares me but I can see that's the way it's gonna go 🤣

No I was the same with my first born tbh he lived off purees this time I'm doing BLW. Try some steamed soft broccoli . Download solid starts app it tells you how to serve them ccx

What you can do is dip the spoon and hand the spoon to the baby. That is still 'baby led' as they would still be feeding themselves. If they still consistently don't put it in their mouth then I'd leave it for a couple weeks

Same here, he hates everything. He is open to try and thats it

No expert but I’ve done 2 courses > I was told a baby can take 30-40 goes before they like a taste. Purées not really recommended now - mashed is fine ~ BLW method. I’ll start on her 6 month birthday.

Maybe have a few days off and during that break give her the spoon empty just to play with. Baby will use the spoon like a teether and warm up to it again 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Thank you everyone! I'll persevere with a couple of different ideas you've all suggested and if it doesn't work I'll give it a couple of weeks break and start again 😊

So I started my little girl and she was abit like this I just persevered and made sure she’d had some milk first and then an hour or two later give her some purée she does prefer finger foods or to grab the spoon and feed herself rather then me actually give it to her 😅x
