Toy purge

Have any of you done a toy purge yet? It feels like the toys have taken over and we need a clear out. I’ve been talking to my son about it but he cries even when we just talk about it. I’m not sure what the best approach is and just wondered if anyone had managed to get their kid on board with it? Any tips?

My son is never on board with it. I have however sold or donated quite a bit. In stages I put it in the loft or under the stairs. If he doesn’t ask for it it’s gone. I leave it quite a while before getting rid incase his interest changes. I only do this to stuff I know he’s never interested in or if it’s very similar to another toy. For example he has two bin lorries but only plays with one. I went through his cars the other week, anything broken gone, anything not made to last gone he still had loads left!!

Iv done the same. Every few months I go through his toys and bag up ones he’s not played with for a while then store in the cupboard for 2/3 months if he’s not asked for them then they go. Hes got a big ride on motorbike which he’s now abit big for and it annoys me taking up so much room. Had it for 2yrs. Want to get rid of it but I’ll have to get him on board for that one but not really sure how. I think maybe something like we leave it out for santas elves to take so he can give to another kid for Xmas then he gets toys for being extra good under the tree. Type thing 🤷‍♀️

Yes, every few months.
