New job- child maintenance increase? UK

My daughter’s dad got a new job in July and said he’d be paying more child maintenance because he’s earning more. I didn’t know that he didn’t report the change of job to CMS, we were getting along so I left it. Now it’s come to paying, he’s refusing to pay more and saying he never said that (even though other people heard him). He reckons it’s worked out yearly therefore he doesn’t have to start paying more until next year, even though he’s on about £600 more a month! Is this right or will his payments increase now? Also, do CMS ask him for his income and trust him or do they look at HMRC payslips?

His payment won’t increase until April 2025. They increase yearly so he is right in saying he won’t be paying more until April next year it runs from April to April, they look at the p60 he will get by the HMRC so his payments will go up but not until new payment year

Always, always get things I'm writing other wise you never have a leg to stand on. Verbal agreements never really stand in court easily unless you're lucky.

Entirely depends on when his annual review is, they will look at his latest p60 when his review comes around, its not done April to April as mentioned above.

@Xena incorrect. They don't go April to April, its whenever his annual review is due.. they will look at the most recent p60 but its not done till he's due a review.

@Leanne it’s still yearly though isn’t it 😂😂 a review is yearly 😂

@Leanne I find that so bizarre! Surely payments should change as soon as income changes. I’ve reported that he’s changed jobs a few months ago cos he didn’t so will just leave it down to them I guess! Thank you!

@Xena it's not April though is it
