Rant!

Sorry all for the rant but I just need to get it out there. Had my first consultant appointment yesterday (wasn’t my named consultant but some random one that was almost an hour late to the appointment and on her phone the majority of the appointment). As I’ve had a previous c section before, she said if I opted for an induction, my options are limited as the gels aren’t appropriate for ladies that have had previous sections but that the balloon isn’t licenced either for ladies that have had previous sections (but can be used off licence if needed) so I felt pressured into another section. The appointment also felt very rushed as she kept mentioning she wanted to get home before the traffic and the whole experience just left me feeling very annoyed. Apparently my named consultant was in the hospital but the nurses didn’t know why she couldn’t do my appointment and there was no reason why the consultant I did see was running late. I had so many questions for my consultant and wanted to talk about some concerns but didn’t feel I was able to do that because of the lack of professionalism from the consultant I saw

I would just ring the unit and say you were not satisfied with the appointment you had and would like to further discuss your birth plan with your own consultant!

100% agree with heidi

I'm currently having the same issue, I've asked my own consultant 3 weeks ago to complete my birth plan, following appointment, never saw her and had a registrar, who skipped this part. Sadly you have to be an advocate for yourself and fight!

@Heidi I did speak to the midwives afterwards and they only met this consultant that day! They said her attitude was awful to them as well. I’ve sent an email to the PALs team for maternity

@Bethany Jayne starting to sound like someone from the street rocked up and did your appointment!! 🤣🤣

@Heidi it is Portsmouth so wouldn’t be surprised 😂😂

Definitely advocate and ask for another appointment. Ask for a chaperone. I had to do this when a male consultant made me very upset, the midwife was horrified and came in with me to my next appointment (thankfully with a different consultant) but it was great to have back up.

I also had a c section and need ro decide what to do. I'm happy to share with you any information I've been given, just DM me. Do you have another appointment? I will have one at 36 weeks so I will decide what to do then.

@Conchi they’ve sent me all the info booklets but thank you! I have another appointment at the end of October following a growth scan. I have polyhydramnios so that factors in to when they’ll schedule the csection but I have my midwife appointment before then so I’m definitely going to raise my concerns to her
