Health visitor

Has anyone been contacted by a health visitor and do you know how they are different from the midwife team?

Show your support

Health visitor will be who you see once baby is born, you won't see your midwife once baby is here. They usually come to your house on day 3 & 5/7 to weigh baby, see how you are doing, ask any questions you have/offer support. You'll then see them I think.around 14 days then 6wka post partum to make sure baby is gaining weight, eating OK etc

The HV will usually visit you at your home before baby is born to give you your babies red book, ask a few questions about support you have around you and see if you have things in place ready for when baby is here and ask if you need anything. The midwife will come to visit a few days after baby is born and if all is well with you and baby will sign you off after doing babies heelprick, then the HV will take over and make sure baby is meeting milestones, feeling well, the HV was amazing with my sons CMPA as the GP was constantly fobbing us off x

Thank you!

There’s another thread on here somewhere about health visitors but just be aware each region / NHS trust might operate differently ☺️
