It was the same for me I started on 6 units and I’m currently on 38 units which I’ve been on for a couple of weeks without having to increase, I felt the same way though about it being draining constantly having to increase every other day and I know it feels like forever right now but it does go by so quickly, I’m getting induced on Friday and everything can stop once baby is here and I can’t wait, good luck and hopefully it will be easy to manage over all for you. Wishing you all the best
Are you still having supper I also noticed if I check my bgl to early that my numbers would be higher if I got up went toilet made a coffee or a tea then did my levels that they would be decent reading
It takes a while to get the right dose, honestly yours is quite low so don't worry! My trust starts us on 14 units then we have to go up 4 whenever we have a fasting over 5. I got to 30 in a couple of weeks and have stayed around 30-34. Some people end up on hundreds of units a day.
I’m reading anything between 5.7- 6 without insulin, I really wouldn’t worry too much at this stage as your hormones are still adjusting to being pregnant. I’m also 11 weeks but can’t have insulin until I go for my blood test tomorrow. In my last pregnancy I was up to about 40 units but I was let diagnosed until 26/28 weeks. Are you having just a small snack before bed? If your not eating anything from tea time that can send your fasting sugars up too x
Yeah it’s draining, mine was put up twice last week. I’m currently on 16 Humulin I and 6 humalog but that will no doubt be 18 and 8 by the weekend at the latest.
No im ok. Yeah it might be just levelling out but maybe it might be the food I’m eating in between lunch and dinner. I’m actually starving all day 😩 @Emma
Thanks Alia. Wishing you a safe delivery 🙂 @Alia
Yess! I noticed that too! Esp I feel like your body is adjusting as you wake up and you need to loosen up abit. When I told the midwife that she said no don’t start doing all sort because that’s not your accurate BG fasting level then. I also noticed that when I’m waking up in the middle night that’s effecting it too. I can’t actually control that because I need a pee and my toddler is literally still stuck to me etc. @Chloe
Oh damn that’s a lot to start on! Thanks for the reassurance 🙂 @Tanya
Thanks @Tiffany I’ve tried having dinner earlier and later. I don’t tend to have snacks. Still the same pattern in the morning 😬
By any chance are you unwell? Is there something working in you? I recently had to increase my insulin from 2 to 12 cos I wasn’t well. But now that I’m better I’m reducing back down again. It might also be that just your body needs more and it will start to level out. However as the pregnancy progresses you will need more insulin.
