Meals

So my girl ears very very little. Hates purées but I’ve managed to get her to like weetabix and porridge (a bit). I offer finger foods but most of the time she will take a little taste and throw it about or mush it between her hands. She doesn’t love anything food except for Greek yogurt. I feel like I’ve failed her and it’s my fault somehow. My question is: what are your babies absolute favourite foods / meals to see if I can try any that I haven’t tried with her?

How much milk is she having? I found this with my LG but then dropped her to 3 bottles and my gosh what I difference to how much food she ate.

Spaghetti bolognaise, salmon in tomato sauce with orzo pasta or roast dinner are my little boys favorites

My LB favourite is cottage pie or chilli but when I first started him on proper solids not the purée he wouldn’t eat, we had to drop a feed and offer food to get him eating and now he eats 3 meals a day xx

First of all, you definitely haven't failed her and it won't be your fault! Babies are all so different and some take to food more easily same as sleep, milestones, etc. As long as you're making sure she's getting enough from milk and any solids she is having there's still loads of time for her to get more interested. I wonder whether things mixed in with the Greek yoghurt would be a good place to start if you haven't already, either fruits or dipping stuff in that she can suck the yoghurt off? My boy is really into more sharp fruits like kiwi and raspberries but he also loves lentil dahl (mixed with greek yoghurt to limit the spice), tomato and pepper soup sucked off of bread, and salmon or bits of steak but he prefers something he can chew independently so we're working on things he actually swallows more of that we preload and let him feed (Cottage pie or moussaka are also good ones for him). Hope you find something she loves!

My boy is really hit and miss with food, we have good days and bad days when he hardly eats anything. But he loves toast so I just try putting different toppings on there like peanut butter, mashed avocado, cream cheese, eggy bread, or dipping in soup. I agree with @Ev it's not your fault at all and they're still so little so I don't think you need to worry too much about it for now as I think sometimes they pick up on our stress around meal times (I'm sure this happens with us sometimes) x

It’s not your fault and you’re doing your best, we all are! 🥰 I’ve been incredibly lucky that my little boy loves food but some sure favourites are - tomato cheese orzo, spag bol with chopped spaghetti, cheesy pasta and roast dinners, for that I just give him what we have but in smaller pieces, he loves a Yorkshire and gravy 😂. Also he lovesss Greek yoghurt/little yoghurts, fruit pouches and most fruits. Maybe try some snacks like melty puffs/biscotti biscuits too? I say just keep at it and keep trying different things and eventually she will find some things she enjoys! Remember for now it’s ’food is just for fun before 1!’ You’ll get there mumma! 💙

My boys favourite thing is tortellini pasta at the moment he also loves blueberries on toast, in porridge or in puff pastry roll ups he will demolish them

@Louise she’s on 4 x 7 ounces. I have thought about reducing. Do you think I should drop a bottle?

Thank you everyone! You’re all amazing. I have tried mixing in fruits in the yogurt but she’s really not a fan of most fruits especially strawberries (how can you not like strawberries?! 😂) she will chew on a bit of toast, and sometimes she’ll have some banana and avocado but the majority of the food ends up on the floor (or up the wall 😭) she’s definitely not eaten a full meal yet.

Either reduce or try offering food first. Depending on when they have their first bottle of the day, try it with lunch and evening meal first and see if it makes a difference then she might naturally drop the 4th bottle down.
