Handicap placard

Has anyone gotten a temporary handicap placard due to their pregnancy? I don’t have complications with my pregnancy, I just have to park so far from my office and it’s getting harder and harder to walk that much 😣

I haven’t but been wondering the same thing!

I had a high risk pregnancy and applied for one and literally never heard back from the dmv.

You can try asking your work HR for a closer parking spot. I heard that some companies do that for pregnant women (without needing a DMV handicap placard). As for the DMV placards, your doctor would need to fill out the medical certification regarding your medical condition that indicates you have a disability during pregnancy. For example, if you need to be placed on bed rest as a result of your pregnancy, then that would be a medical reason for having a temporary handicap placard. Otherwise, doctors would not complete the medical certification for you to qualify for a handicap place from the DMV simply for being pregnant if you do not have a qualifying medical need.

You can, my doctor gave me a temporary one and life got in the way and I never went to get it done, wish I made the time for it. The worst they can say is no, but it’s really doubtful they would.

California offers temp disability if you can prove with a doctors note that your mobility has been limited… which I say just say you’re in pain and can’t walk… and doc should be able to give you a note
