Dinners at Restaurants

How does your child behave during sit down dinners at restaurants? Our daughter really can’t sit still or we can’t enjoy a dinner out unless it’s one of the restaurants that have a playground. Is this what you experience too? How often to you go to sit down dinners with your LO?

Maybe once or twice a month? Lol. We just accept the fact that she won’t sit still. We do find things to try and keep her preoccupied as much as we can. Like magic ink coloring books, sticker books and play i spy. It’ll be enough sometimes until the food comes. She’ll eat when it comes but one parent would usually finish early and entertain her to go walk when they’re done and the other will enjoy their dinner alone 😂

I'm on my own. I usually put her in a high chair when we go to a sit-down restaurant. She can be quite loud sometimes, but she does pretty good overall. It's not always so easy to keep her preoccupied; each time is a case-by-case basis.

We don’t go out often, maybe once every other month usually and less now that I’m pregnant again and don’t want to leave the house. lol Honestly it’s normal for this age to not want to sit still when you’re out. My oldest is turning 5 in a few months and we had him right before Covid happened so we didn’t have many opportunities to take him out as a baby/toddler so when we would go out as a family he’d go nuts sitting in a booth (literally would do headstands and play under the table) but now that he’s older he’s gotten much better. My 2 year old is a little easier because she’s never been restricted (Covid) but she also is food motivated, likes coloring and will sit in a high chair. 🤷🏼‍♀️ it does get better in time but maybe try bringing something to distract her while you wait for your food?

@Haley We order first for her and ask for coloring books and when necessary Bluey comes out😅🙃 Thankfully there is a fair number of restaurants here with playgrounds thank goodness… I just don’t like most of their food🤪
