Oestrogen gel FAQs and application...🩷

We've had quite a few new members since I last posted this, so here it is again cos peeps always seem to find it useful 🙂 Although the product Oestrogel is used as pur example here, this applies to all regulated oestrogen gels. OESTROGEN GEL FAQs 🩷APPLICATION Most people are instructed to apply the gel to inner thighs or upper outer arms. You might also apply to the buttocks or abdomen... BUT NEVER BREAST OR GENITAL AREAS! For reliable absorption and stability of dose it is recommended that Oestrogel is applied to the skin as a thin layer so that it leaves a sheen which dries in about 5-10 minutes. You don't need to rub it in. Apply after a shower or washing the application area (rinse well) - clean skin absorbs better! You can apply body lotion and sun cream over gel after waiting a minimum of one hour after application. Some peeps are advised to switch their application area every now and then. I can't find anything from the manufacturer to say this has to be A Thing, so I'm just putting this out there... 🙂 🌙 MORNING OR NIGHT? Oestrogel can be used at any time of day, however consistency from day to day is key. If you are on a high dose or find drying time is too long, try splitting the dose between morning and night. This can give a more evenly spread dosage of product (particularly if on 4 pumps or higher unlicensed doses). 🌞 STORING OESTROGEL There are no specific storage instructions for Oestrogel, so it should be stored at room temperature, 15-30°C. It doesn't need to go in a fridge... In hot temperatures, you may find it's a bit more runny as you apply it to skin - just dispense one pump at a time so you avoid the 'juggling with jelly' effect 😁 [N.B. You may have been advised specifically by your prescriber, so if that's the case stick with what they've told you. These notes are based on manufacturer and menopause specialist information that I've gleaned online, menopause training that I've received, as well as from my own GP.] The diagram shows how the oestrogen gel is absorbed and how it forms a slow releasing 'reservoir' in the layers of the skin. 🙂❤️

@Cindy - hello 🙂 How are your symptoms? Are they pretty much controlled? Or are they still problematic? 🩷
