Does your toddler do an activity/sport?

For example football, dancing, gymnastics.. We have friends whose kids do these kind of things outside of going to toddler groups and childcare. I feel bad as we don’t do this with our toddler, we go to some toddler groups and do various bits to entertain but nothing specific. Will she be behind if we don’t get her into a sport or specific activity?

I think the only activity a parent should definitely do is swimming. Everything else is personal preference, and in most part it’s the parents interest and not usually the child’s. We’re doing gymnastics as IMO it’s a good middle ground between sport and dance. So it’s a start point whatever they start being interested in. Also gives them an outlet for some energy, learning to follow instructions etc... Most activities (bar swimming) only really start between 2-4 anyway.

My little one choses when to listen and rarely follows instruction, I will not be taking him to any clubs like this until he can. Which may be never 🤣 But those are important skills before thinking of attending such activity clubs/ lessons. Turn taking and waiting too ☺️

I’m going to wait until she’s a bit older

We occasionally bring my toddler to a gym-for-minis session but that’s about it! We do prioritise bringing him outdoors though. I only started piano and swimming lessons at 7 and turned out fine!
