Is there alot to do in your city for free. Or is it like mine and everything fun cost money.

I would check out ur local library for any baby/toddler groups some met once a week or once a month. They are also doing fun events for the kids.

Our children’s museums have free days once a month which are fun! Library is great, we go to chick fil a play places and McDonald’s, the community centers have indoor playgrounds that are usually only 2$ (I know not free but close)

Almost all museums are free for all here, libraries too. Lots of free toddler groups, community activities in parks, city farms, kids get in free to most places and travel for free in the city too.

@Sarah the museum here would cost $35 for adults. Kids are free. The library is free but it's like there bored of it. We go three to four times a week.

Can’t you just get in to nature? We do lots of bike rides and walks, all free.

@H we don't have any groups like that here. And the events for kids are age restricted. Like some if nit all are for 5 and up. Even the Lego days. There got kindergarten to 6th grade. My 3 year old would love Lego days.

@Lisa yeah we go to the park a lot, and we even walk trails alot too. But as the weather gets colder we can't do that anymore. It can get to single digits here. For now, it's a lot of parks and trails. But I'm really talking about when it gets colder. There's just not much else besides outdoors here

The closest I get to free is the children’s museum under 2 is free and I just pay for my ticket lol

Any local community centers? YMCA?

The local college has 2 free tiny museums that you can go to, but other than that, there isn't anything unless you count parks and libraries. I've got a zoo, 2 aquariums and lots of museums about 45 minutes away but they are all so expensive it's not worth it to go. I think I remember you saying you have food stamps? Some places have discounts if you have a food stamp card or a wic card.

@Kylie yes the closest zoo is three hours away. Most everything is three hours away in little rock

After reading your comments you might have to resort to inside activities. Building forts is always fun for everyone. There are a ton of educational activity suggestions online. Duck duck goose to burn energy.

Zoo, science center, history museum, art museum, parks, libraries, botanical gardens on Saturday morning, children's museum is free once a month or you can check out a pass from the library. The pools or trampoline parks have toddler time that is cheaper than usual.

Well if you live in a small town, of course there's less to do in general, and less free stuff.

Look for a free playgroup. Sometimes schools or kindergartens run a free playgroup program one day a week. That's inside.

Our libraries are free, they also check out day passes to all the local museums and indoor play places. Check with your library to see what else they can get you into. We also drive to the libraries in other towns near us to change it up once in a while. Also look for any farms or parks that have nature trails.

@Ella yes I live in a not so small town but alot of it is outdoors. Not so much Indoors. Like the museum is not kid friendly. The closest children's museum us three hours away. We go to the library so much. I feel the kids are bored of it. We have four other library's we could go try too. But the colder days are coming and that's when it gets difficult

Libraries always have different events. I’m a teacher, so really only free in the summer. We ask for passes to the zoo and aquarium to be gifted for Christmas and we will do those, along with park and splash pad hopping and library free events.

We like being outdoors and I try to visit different parks every time. We get on our winter outfits and still go outside when it's cold or rainy. There are lots of indoor activities (free or with a fee) but we rather leave those for days with awful weather. If going outdoors in winter is not an option where you live, you can try finding community activities via a church or different apps, buy toys that can keep them physically active indoors or in your backyard, activity books, watch TV programs with choreographies for children, get on some baking, play doh, etc or organise playdates at home. Sometimes it makes a difference to have friends along. But I get what you mean costs can add up... transport, coffee, snacks, parking, entrance fee. You can leave these activities for one day a week if it fits in your budget.

@𝔾𝕚𝕤𝕖𝕝𝕝𝕖 I think this winter we are going to do more sensory bins. My daughter is 3 and recently diagnosed with asthma. So, being outside on cold days unless we have to is going to be a no. But I need to find creative ways Indoors. They watch way to much TV as it anyway. It's not even in the budget to do one paid indoor activity a week. So it would have to be completely free. I live paycheck to paycheck

We have heaps. Festivals and markets and free expos, events in the city. I look up my city events page and see what’s on. And there are 4 types of parks here - normal playground, skate park, water park, and nature park w a 2hr walking trail

@Carol💗💙 when health conditions are involved, it gets tricky. I hope her asthma is well controlled (?) There are Instagram accounts with plenty of simple activities and ideas to play with common household items... Busytoddler, bright_little_brains... but there are more, can't find them all. If they already watch too much TV, you can swap some cartoons for TV programs that encourage them to dance or jump around.

@𝔾𝕚𝕤𝕖𝕝𝕝𝕖 it's a recent diagnosed its fresh. She was diagnosed with it three days ago. So we are still trying to manage it. I will check out those Instagram pages. And I will try the TV idea.

Libraries hold a lot of free events and our local art centre offer toddler sessions for £2 worth it considering it would cost a lot more to get all the stuff for home. Theres a local museum which has a play and explore area , but my 3yr old is happy just wondering around the park spotting squirrels and picking up leaves

We don't even have parks here, there's 1 play ground in the big gas station that's free and that's about it. In the summer a small amusement park opens and people set up things like trampolines on the walkways in the middle of the roads, but you have to pay for each individual thing and it's so busy that you can't even enjoy yourself. We usually end up taking the kids up into the mountain, they run around and collect pinecones or shells.

Does your area have a buy nothing or kid swap on Facebook? Sometimes you can pick up awesome indoor play stuff for free. I just got a toddler trampoline for free, my kid has been over the moon haha. Maybe you and some local moms could arrange to trade indoor play stuff with each other through the cold months?
