Tears after birth

Hi I had my little boy 8 days ago. During the birth I had a second degree tear. My midwife has looked at my stitches and says everything is fine but I’m finding it sore to sit or move and walk around. I know the healing process will take a bit of time. Any ideas on how long the discomfort will last and when I might be able to bit without needing to change positions every 5 minutes

I had an episiotomy and really struggled, spritz for bits saved me and so did having a bath with tea tree oil in it x

I had an episiotomy too, I found frida mom witch hazel foam to be really helpful x

Congratulations! Get yourself an inflatable doughnut cushion and make sure your pain relief is regular and topped up. For when you’re sitting, try to have everything in reaching distance. I used a tray for drinks and snacks. I also made sure I had cushions around me. Try to enjoy staying still as much as you can and be waited on if you’ve got someone to help. It really does get easier. I think by 6 weeks there was a notable improvement. I had a big tear but I’ve got photos of me 3 weeks after birth being pretty mobile. Hope you’re more comfortable soon.

I’ve been using both the spritz for bits and the witch hazel foam. It’s giving a little relief at the time but it’s at the point where it’s painful to sit up in bed at night to feed my little one xx

I had an extended episiotomy, so I was also in a lot of pain. As soon as I was out of the hospital, my husband and I figured out how I can safely breastfeed laying down on the bed - I did this for several weeks. The visit midwives would just make sure I was doing it safely and were fully onboard with it. I used the donut cushion any time I had to sit down and sprits for bits. Paracetamol was enough to help with the pain and discomfort (and minimizing how long & often I had to sit down). Also, one thing you should know is - when your cut does heal, if it gets super sensitive, tell your midwives / GP. It’s called granulated tissue. I was referred to a specialist midwife and she resolved it pretty simple.

I had an epsiotomy and struggled I got cousin for under both sides of my legs to lift me up so my bum wasn’t touching the chair the best thing to do is keep active slow and steady with pain killers

Peribottle, reusable perineal ice packs, donut cushion and regular paracetamol
