What has her weight gain been like? My little boy is only 2 weeks but lost a lot of his birth weight because of a tongue tie, they rushed us through to have it cut quite quickly and he’s now steadily gaining weight thank goodness! I know it’s super stressful and it makes you feel like giving up doesn’t it 😢 x
@Cassie forgot to mention she will not take a bottle 😭
@Megan it was ok then she wasn’t gaining quickly enough and we just started more regular weighs. My biggest stressor is she will not take the bottle, we have tried every single bottle, others giving it, just everything and she won’t:( xxx glad your little boy is doing better xxx
@Megan thank you so much cxxx
You’re doing an amazing job and should be very proud 👏🏻 It is hard when baby isn’t latching properly. Have you seen a member of your breastfeeding team since the procedure? They’re much better to support you than a health visitor. It is worth asking for more help. We had huge latch problems. My son had a 100% anterior tongue tie cut, but I went back to the lactation consultant a while later as feeding wasn’t improving. She found he also had a posterior tongue tie as well and we had that cut eventually too. It might be worth having your daughter checked again to see if the tongue tie has gone completely and is healing well. I’d say ask the breastfeeding team for help in the first instance, then there are other sources of help like La Leche League and the National Breastfeeding Helpline.
100% Ask your health visitor to refer you to a feeding specialist if not already under one, they'll supply you with the SNS bits for free if they think that's what's needed.
My baby had this exact problem after tongue tie. I pumped and topped him off with an ounce after every feed and he fattened up pretty quickly :)
