GD medication

Did anyone get side effects from Metformin medicine? I constantly have nausea anyway since my pregnancy started and now 32 week with GD.

I’m on the slow release version and had a dodgy tum/diarrhoea for a couple of days when I started it and then again when I upped my dose. I had my gallbladder out a year ago so I opted for the slow release metformin as I knew the regular one had more chance of causing tummy troubles and I already have enough of those!

I am so worried to start, already feeling enough crap since entered to this 3rd trimester. Hope you feel better soon:)

It might take a couple of days to settle, otherwise ask to try the slow release one. I hope it works for you and you get no side effects! Not long to go til you meet your little one and it’s all over ☺️ this is my second GD pregnancy and it can be so tough x

I refused metaformin and just have insulin I'm more than controlled now I only have 1 or 2mg of insulin when I eat and 2mg before bed

Metformin has known side effects of nausea and diarrhea. It is really unpleasant. I have been on it years so have got over it. I couldn't imagine starting it while pregnant. My advice would be keep those carbs low as well as fat and bulk meals with veggies and protein, and it should help.
