Dentist- maternity exemption for costs

Hi all, has anyone done any dental work whilst pregnant and used maternity exemption certificate for not paying for the dental work? I wonder if this includes just fillings or also polish and clean (hygenist teeth maintenance) - as I have used liquid iron that has visibly stained my teeth.

Hiya I work for a dentist, if its a hygienist appointment it would usually be classed as a private treatment so wouldn't be included on maternity exemption, only just a standard scale included with your exam if the dentist thought you needed it, would be included. Worth asking your dentist though, the dentist might be able to remove the stains for you. I think it depends on the dentist though if they're feeling nice they might do it in my experience lol, hope this helps x

Hi lovely, thank you so so much! That helped loads, I need a filling too so will ask my dentist. 🙂👌🏻

Any NHS dentistry is covered by the maternity exemption. You are entitled during pregnancy and a year after the birth of your baby.
