Are you not scared of choking?
My girl has always wanted to feed herself so purées doesn’t work well for us either. We’ve done BLW and I totally get the worry about choking but I find because she’s in control, she does really well. She gags a bit but she handles it fine. Happy to share some videos if it helps to understand normal gagging? If you want to give it a go, I recommend downloading solid starts app so you can search a food and understand how to prepare it safely. I’ve given her things like cucumber, toast, banana, chicken, beef, broccoli, carrots, melon etc. A little bit to whatever I’m having but prepared safely for her.
We’re doing purées too and had this issue a bit though we’ve found in the last week he’s taken to it a lot more. He refuses fruit and any single veg foods but east blended meals. His favourites have been curries, minestrone soup, pastas. We’ve had to let him feed himself with the spoon and even though it makes a huge mess, he takes it better. We are going to start with some melty puffs as finger foods as I have been too anxious for BLW.
This is exactly my LO … omg am so surprised cos she was literally doing well with puree at 6months I still haven’t figured out how we got here … Omg and I will be getting back to work in 3months time , she doesn’t even accept formula right from when we start weaning just breastmilk … It’s quite draining 😫
@Elizabeth Ah when you figure it out please let me know. My LO hates formula too 😩
@Audrey I was but you’ll be surprised how well they can cope. If you don’t show anxiety they won’t feel it
