I still only rarely use utensils. My girl turned 1 about a week ago and does super well feeding herself with her hands so i just let her do her thing for the most part. If it’s something super messy like yogurt or cottage cheese I’ll spoon feed her but otherwise everything is her hands 😂
My baby eats independently. If I serve her something wet, I just hand her a full spoon each time. When she stops eating, I offer a few bites in my fingers to see if she’s still hungry and she’ll usually eat them.
Unfortunately I never did BLW out of fear so I always fed my child. He’s about to be 13 months and I feed him breakfast/lunch/dinner but he does know how to feed himself, he feeds himself all his snacks throughout the day and I did notice if I give him food piece by piece, he feeds himself but if I were to put all of his food in front of him, he’d probably play with it instead..
Yes @Elannah my guy is the same. Whatever I put in front of him he kind of just squishes or pushes around. If I hand him something he will do it. And occasionally uses his fork. I am hoping he will soon be able to feed himself independently. Any suggestions from anyone would be greatly appreciated🥰
My one year old eats everything herself. Shes very independent and wants to do most things herself. We did baby led weaning from 6 months and she eats so well. We give her spoons and forks to try to eat with those but most times it’s with her hands
My LO is all over the map as well. It really depends on her mood. Sometimes it's with her hands, other times she won't touch it unless she is using a fork (I occasionally help her push it into her food). She doesn't know how to keep food on a spoon yet so I spoon feed purees and yogurt.
