Solids

I honestly hate this baby led weaning. It scares me as she chocked badly once and it’s really put me off giving her solids. I tend to just mash everything but I’m worried I’m holding her back as she is about to turn 11 months. Any advice - she isn’t a great eater at all but still enjoys her bottles

Try the baby melty sticks and wafers as they dissolve in the mouth so they are great as a first step. Did she actually choke before or gag? They are very different- gagging is good and a good sign

She chocked, she often gags and is sick but she properly chocked on watermelon and it flew out after back slaps . It was awful

I’m sorry that happened to you. Maybe start off by making what you mash a bit lumpier and keep increasing the lumpiness as baby gets used to it. You could also try things like toast. They suck it to death and you might get some gagging but it would be hard to choke on it. Go back to the basics. I know it will be hard for you but try thinking of things you could try and build your confidence back up xx

I invested in a LifeVac then went full on blw from purées, it gave me peace of mind knowing if he was to choke (touch wood never will) then I have it on hand. So sorry that happened to you, watermelon is quite a hard one for them to eat, when my boy eats watermelon he seems to keep it in his mouth for soo long, I’m too scared to do watermelon now, maybe start off with something easier to eat like very well cooked broccoli, very well cooked sweet potato etc x
