I got 9 years of worry free birth control from the copper IUD. It was painful to get it placed, and it did make my periods heavier for the first couple months, but overall it was the best birth control experience I've had
I had nexoplanon in my arm and it made my period terrible. I took it out after a year too.
I’d say go for a copper iud orrrrr consider looking into the patch birth control options available! The patch is hormonal but not the same way the pills or iuds are
@Parker 又 sorry to jump in Have you had the patch before? I was looking at getting it as currently on depo injection and gaining alot of weight but there's not much information about it 🙈
@Emma-louise i haven’t tried the patch yet but a friend did! She loves it!! It’s at the top of my list to start when my son is completely weaned off breast feeding. I looked into it a lot cause a lot of birth control has failed me personally & other options with hormones haves messed my mom & sister up lolol I like that it absorbs directly into the blood stream & isn’t a daily application process, and once you stop wearing it it’s pretty immediate that all the extra hormones leave your body compared to the pill options https://www.mayoclinic.org/tests-procedures/birth-control-patch/about/pac-20384553

I’ve been using very LOW hormonal BC since college, I’m now 37 and have zero complaints. I’ve experienced Zero side effects. Lutera is one of the brand names I’ve been on. Levonorgestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol Tablets
Definitely copper iud I had no side effects

@Lucy Sundin I am so sorry! It prevents pregnancy yeah, but it’s like it’s miserable living with it. I’d rather have the newborn almost I’m more exhausted and sick from this that I was even with my newborn multiples.

@Emily that’s amazing! And really sounds exactly like what I’m looking for too. I’m so terrified of hormones right now. I just don’t want to be pregnant but I also want to not be sick to the point I can barely move without passing out.
@Susan so I was on low hormonal BC in high school for ovarian cysts, and I never had issues. My worry with pills is how serious is the risk if you don’t take it on time or miss a day. I’m scared with 4 under 4 with my adhd I’m gonna mess that up so bad.
Ahh you’re right i did not catch that part. This is drastic but would you consider “tying your tubes” either for you or your husband?

Of course!!! I was at a loss too until my obgyn was like “have you considered the patch?” And I was like “THERE ARE PATCHES?! YALL keep that option hidden??!”
So. Just to update this post. I went to the OB today and they lost the nexoplanon. Had to get an ultrasound and now I’m being referred to a general surgeon to even just get it removed. 🥴
@Parker 又 omg that’s literally unheard of really. I haven’t heard of anyone using them no one’s offered. Nothing!
@Susan so we did discuss that today. It’s on the plate. But first I have to have go under to get the nexoplanon removed now.
Copper coil - I got mine after 2 surprise pregnancies and it kept me unpregnant for the 7 years I had it, and didn't mess with my mental health like hormonal contraception does. It also didn't impact my fertility at all and I got pregnant the first cycle after having it out 😊
