Anyone else sick of this BLW malark?

I don't wanna be negative because the bottom line is I have been too scared to do BLW - my child is 8.5 months and still on purees. We're going at our own pace, but I'm so sick of everytime I'm logging into Insta or other mum pages, constant content about BLW and their babies 'loving' food and eating EVERYTHING. Just needed to rant... I've found weaning so incredibly hard. Anyone else feeling the same 😂

I totally feel the same way 😂. My baby is also 8.5 months and we are still on purees

@Nonye oh thank god! 😂 This BLW stuff is just shoved in your face so much I think.... I'm just like shove off! 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

This was me no joke. I kept her on purees until about 3 weeks ago. Then I just went for it 🤣 don’t get me wrong I watch her like a hawk but I do a nice soft breakfast then get more brave through out the day xx

@Naomi What sort of things did you start giving her? I am tempted to try it but I'm SO scared he's gonna choke 😬 but I've also ran out of meal ideas to puree 🤦🏼‍♀️ especially lunchtimes xx

I’m exactly the same I went to a first birthday party at the weekend and they gave her like a packed lunch with sandwiches, crisps, raisins and a yoghurt. Felt really awkward like my kid was the only one that wouldn’t eat it 🤦🏽‍♀️ I did give her a bit of dairylea on bread today and she licked it 😂 I tried toast and broccoli when I first started but felt I was failing looking at socials. I’m sure she will get it one day 😅

I started with the normal 7+pouches or jars for my piece of mind as I knew they were the correct consistency but I felt I was holding her back and one day I just gave her toast. I don’t know why 🤣 but deffo start with the lumpier pouches if you want to gradually do it. Then work your way up so home made foods I started with a Sunday dinner because I knew I could make it all soft and mushy with the gravy. She loves a Yorkshire pud in gravy now! And definitely the finger food crisps that melt in the mouth. The Ella’s kitchen ones or wotsits my little girl loves wotsits. She lets me know when she’s had enough or doesn’t like it. Little bits at a time n I’m sure you’ll get there. You can always message me if need be I’ll help where I can xx

I HATE all the posts showing a perfect meal of BLW themed meals… All perfectly prepped… all healthy and expensive… who is affording to buy avocado?! 😅 On a serious note though…. Just do what you can and be safe knowing all baby food is fine… they aren’t allowed too much salt/ sugar etc… I personally do a mix of some pouches and some of whatever dad and I are eating. It depends on my day and if I have time. A super positive to BLW I’ve found is my boy will sit and entertain himself while eating his finger foods. I can get so much done while he munches his mashed banana on toast! If anything try it for help with your time and entertain for your baby 😜

@Naomi Thanks so much! This is reassuring 🙏🏼 I may take you up on that if I pluck up the courage 😂 xx

@Sarah Very true!! It's free entertainment 😅 never thought of that! Thank you 🙏🏼

Once you do it you’ll not go back. I’m a big worrier and I’ve not flaked yet hahah! You got this xx

@Sibs This makes me feel better 😂 glad I'm not the only one. Cheers love for ya honesty! X

I would consider doing a health and safety course and I know I was petrified with my first child but it gave me the confidence I needed. Just always remember that everyone isn’t trying to race you either. I have been doing a mix of both with my second child. With you choosing to spoon feed that is a valid option and you shouldn’t feel pressured. Melty sticks and other alternative that melt in their mouth are a good starting point too.

My baby is 8 months and still on purees. I give her some finger foods every now and then but not all the time as honestly the puree pouches are just so convenient! Try the organix apple and cinnamon rice cakes/ellas kitchen melts sticks. I also made her this nice breakfast yesterday which she loved; mashed banana, 2 eggs and cinnamon in bowl and whisk, add the sourdough bread (cut up in squares) then fry either side (or air fryer) served with yoghurt and puréed fruit. She loved it and also meant she could feed herself and it also just melts in the mouth! 😃 x
