Any other chronic illness mums to be out there?

I am up at 1am having been in the shower for an hour after trying all my usual non medication tricks to help relieve the pain in my neck and face (caused by muscle spasms and nerve issues) I have managed to ease it slightly. I'm about 20 minutes away from my next dose of paracetamol but I'm considering taking my first cocodamol in nearly 6 months but I am doubtful it will help much. I had gone so long without this particular pain that I thought it had stopped completely (wishful thinking i suppose).

🙋‍♀️ I've got nerve damage so I know how it goes. I've managed to avoid strong pain killers up until this last trimester but I'd rather take things than be in pain and make it worse. As I had to stop all my meds to get pregnant. So flair ups was bound to happen and I was dreading how I'd be but I've done better than expected

Do anti inflammatory's help? I know they're not recommended so it's 100% up to you to take them but I've been at a point of desperation with pain where I've had to have ibuprofen, even if it's just one dose

@Emily I've done a lot better than expected. I stopped all meds too and I expected my pain levels to be horrific but they have been manageable. Its been about 6 months since this has been an issue so I have an appointment to rule out an ear infection and to see if anything can be done

@Jessica that's really good then 🤞it all gets sorted out for you

@Natalie they do but only on continued use. It takes two or 3 doses before there is a noticeable difference. I used to have morphine when needed but it's been so long since I last needed it that it's unlikely I will ever get it again in the future.

I saw the GP who said no ear infection, which I expected, however he has still said about antibiotic ear drops because of how sore my ear is. He also prescribed low dose cocodamol for when absolutely needed. However he failed to actually write a prescription and send it to the pharmacy so I will have to call Monday to chase it. His notes on my file are horrific and mostly spelt wrong. He had a strong accent which I can usually work with but he spoke super quietly (like someone had told him he was too loud) but also kept turning away from me while talking so made it even harder to understand- baring in mind I was in agony anyway. If he hadn't spoke so quietly it would have been fine. But as a result i forgot to ask a question.

I then spoke with a midwife about speaking to one of the hospital doctors as they have more knowledge on what can and can't and the risk vs reward of medication in pregnancy. Her first suggestion was to go to a&e and after repeating that statement too her she realised how stupid that was to waste my time, clog up a&e and waste and doctors time coming down for maternity to discuss it. She then arranged a phone call appointment with someone for next week so that I can make sure I am doing the safest option for both of us over the next few weeks.
