Amh levels

I've just had blood test prior to starting ivf and my amh level is 11. Consultant said this was fine. When I questioned what fine meant was it normal or just within range he said they would prefer 15 / 16 but that's being picky and 11 is fine. I'm seeing all sorts of numbers online and wondering what 11 means exactly and the impact if will have on ivf treatment. I'm 26 so expected good number of egg reserve. I had a ultrasound today just to check everything over and I had 17 follicles on one ovary and 12 on the other.

I have PCOS and my AMH level is 11.8 and my clinic considers that as high or above normal range. You should be fine. Fingers crossed for you. This is my first ivf cycle and im excited

AMH can be expressed in pmol/l (which I assume is your case) or ng/mL, so a lot of the different numbers you see online are also depending on the unit. I think 11 is on lower end (mine was 11 at 38 yo) but my doctor was more interesting in the number of follicles and yours is really good! Don't get too fixated on it, when I actually did IVF a year later my consultant didn't even measure it again and I had good results anyway! Best of luck!

Aw brilliant thank you all. He didn't seemed too bothered and maybe like you said it's not too important if it's withing a decent range I was just looking online and it was likely to be in a category which was older than what I was and I panicked and worries out our ivf cycle and also future too. Thanks for the reassurance @Vit and @Patrice when are you starting your ivf cycle. We are hoping to start our meds on our next cycle x

This is my first ivf cycle and we're doing a fresh transfer. Currently in stage 1 where im taking birth control. My baseline scan is 10/16, my last birth control pill is 10/17 and i start stims on 10/20

That's exciting. I'm still between panic and excitement. I don't know how to feel. I should be starting injections on my next period. I do not have birth control for this cycle

I think i will be anxious around stim time lol
