Birth trauma

I have severe birth trauma and am now pregnant with my second. I’ve been put in touch with the mental health team to help give support but are there any second time mums who had a traumatic birth but a positive second? Can anyone share what they did to help their anxiety? I brush it off a lot at the moment but highly concerned I can’t hold this front for long.

Have you considered/had a birth debrief? Do you know specifically what caused the trauma? Often second time births are easier than first time ones and are less complicated/less intervention recommended which leads to less trauma. Highly recommend looking into a homebirth if it’s something you’d consider. Much more in control that way!

@Lottie I had a birth debrief but they had lost my notes and were unable to provide me with anything. I also put myself forward for therapy and they kept triaging me out and no one ever got in touch. I had sepsis during labour which resulted in an emergency c section & being put to sleep. It was mid-covid and I just couldn’t cope mentally being alone without my partner and the sheer pain of everything as my body was essentially destroying itself. They won’t alone me to have a home birth which I would definitely prefer x

“they” don’t have any authority over you. if you want a homebirth you can have one. have you considered hiring a doula?

Like izzie said, you can have whatever kind of birth you want and can birth wherever you want! That’s atrocious they lost your notes, I’m so sorry. It sounds like you had a really rough time and being in Covid made it even worse, I’m so sorry 😔.
