KIT Days - What are my rights?

Do I have any? My employer apparently only pays you for the hours work and not the whole day. Is that allowed? I’m not paid hourly I have an annual salary so it seems a bit weird. Also, I think they dismiss you so how is that my fault? If they tell me to go home early then why am I losing out on pay?

KIT days are optional both ways - you don’t have to do them and your company doesn’t have to offer them. It’s up to them what they offer you and if it’s not good enough then don’t do them, basically!

I’m a teacher and my school offers 10 KIT days. Days are agreed by me and my line manager. I can work as long or short a day as I like and am paid hourly. They work out my hourly rate based on my salary.

I always got paid the whole day

They're optional on both sides and are kind of at the discretion of the company. I got paid a full day for just logging in to a zoom, but I appreciate I'm lucky!

What Sophie said, if it's not worth it to you then don't do them.

They are not required to pay you for the whole day. I’m a salaried employee but my workplace paid me a percentage of my salary based on the hours I worked. It should be outlined in your company’s maternity leave policy. https://www.gov.uk/employee-rights-when-on-leave

My workplace said the same as yours. I will only be paid for the hours I work but it will count as 1 day so if I do an hour a day for 10 days all my days are gone but I only get paid for 10 hours x

Yeah this stung me. In my work you can choose to have up to 10 KIT days, a KIT day can be any length, e.g. 1 hour, or the whole day. And must be beneficial for both you and your employer. I thought you got paid a KIT 'day' but my manager insisted the entitlement is 10 days, of any length, but you only get paid the hours you work...
