Is NIPT test expensive?

I would see if you can pay for it without using your insurance. Mine was covered by insurance but my doctor informed me that if my cost was over $250, to call and ask to pay without insurance. What company did you use?

I used Natera.. I just looked at my insurance claims and my NIPT was $3,900 (mine was completely covered)

Ask them how much it is out of pocket if you don’t use insurance. Cause when they called me the lady asked me if I wanted to claim it on insurance and pay the difference at over $900 or not claim it and pay out of pocket at $112. I have no clue how that freaking works but she told me it was cheaper out of pocket and gave me no reason why so I don’t know if that is normal or just the lab that did mine. As others said, call the company the bill is from, tell them you can't pay that much and they'll reduce it significantly. Most medical bills will allow payment plans too.

You can call your insurance directly talk to a rep to get an exact number! I called the other day to get a rundown of all things that would be covered by my insurance and got a better understanding of what optional tests are and are not covered and how that would play into my deductible. They were great and ran like 10 different scenarios with me and got me exact #s for what’s covered.
