Peeing while changing diaper

My boy is 1 month and I haven’t yet found a way to avoid getting sprayed by pee when changing his diaper. Are the peepee teepees any good or do you guys have any other suggestions?

I don’t have a boy, but my best friend does. She said she always gently pushes it down so it’s pointing towards used diaper with new one under used. She then slides used out and quickly pulls new up and over

When my LO was born he was in NICU for a few days and they use cotton wool and sterile water and they taught me to hold a cotton wool ball over it, you can also use a wipe but I’d advise folding it up a bit as if it’s just the thickness of an unfolded wipe it can soak through, I’ve also heard of people wiping just above the nappy with a cold wipe before doing nappy change as it can make them pee before actually starting the change x

I have a little boy and a trick that I found worked for me when he was a newborn was to put a tissue or baby wipe over his penis.

You have to put the clean diaper down under his butt before you start changing the dirty one. Then once you wipe and pull the dirty one out the clean one is already in place. You always have a diaper in place to quickly cover him if he starts to pee.

Also, you just have to go as quickly as you can.

Put a baby wipe above his peepee so it’s sandwich between the nappy. That helps encourage them to wee. Wit for a couple of minutes then change the nappy ☺️

Hi! It use to happen to me alot but then I started to use a a wipe on his lower stomach before opening his diaper and I wait a lil bit before I open. It hasn’t happened to me since

We find a wet wipe on his tummy gently massaging him seems to help, and I hold the nappy loosely over him so I can tell when he’s done. He’s 17 weeks now and so much better. X

Personally, at first when my son was 1 or younger, I’ll just put wipes on top of him to try to catch or soak up him potentially peeing on me- but now, I just watch to see if he’s poking up a little bit, if so, Ik he’s about to pee, and I shut the diaper until he goes back down and change him into a new diaper.

Same as Kalina says, run a wipe along his lower stomach before undoing the nappy. The cold encourages them too pee. Wait a few seconds then change as normal x

Yes as Viki also said. The cold wipe encourages him to go. Wipe his tummy before changing the diaper, wait a little and he will go. Have a new diaper opened and ready to go as well and change it quickly.

A cool trick I learned is right before you change them, wipe their lower stomach with a wet wipe and wait a bit. The coldness of the wipe will trigger them to pee.

They tend to wee when cold air hits them. I pull the Nappy down, let the air get to it then put it back up, hold it there for a few seconds before changing it

I use a wipe right under his bellybutton and change him quickly before he pees everywhere

We used a wipe warmer and put a warm wipe over his penis while changing. The cold air and cold wipe is what triggers the pee lol

@Gabrielle exactly what Gabrielle said

before you take his diaper off, at the top of it by the tummy run a wipe across a little under the diaper line- sometimes the cold from either the wipe or the cold air makes him pee. this way he will pee before you start to remove the diaper. make sure to get the new diaper ready by putting it under him so you can switch them out quickly and avoid pee getting all over the changing table. you can also place a wipe or washcloth over his penis while you change him so if he pees it gets on either of those and not you lol. the amount of times this has happened to me is wild!!! also point it down when you put the new diaper on so he’s not peeing up.

i also use a wipe warmer

I wipe the top of his tummy right above his genitals under the diaper before I change him, it has saved me! I do this with every change and it imitates cold air hitting that area and he will potty with the diaper still on. Wipe, wait a minute, then change. Never got peed on again

I never got peed on when changing but my husband has 🤣 I’m now pregnant with another boy in December. I always get things ready before changing to avoid that.

I just throw a wipe on it lol it doesn't stop it from happening but it will catch some of it and keep him from peeing all over everything

Running a wipe under their bellybutton and waiting a minute is a game changer! Open the nappy carefully then as they might still be mid pee!

Wipe under the belly button before you start to change him and wait a little. It sometimes stimulates pee. Also some baby have potty cues and you'll be able to notice when they need to pee or poop. (Poop is obvious and pee ques not so much sometimes) and then yes keep the new clean diaper ready and waiting under his booty.

I just had a stack of tiny wash cloths and through one on top while I slid the new diaper under him

My boy has never peed on me. I open the diaper let air gush on it then I cover it for like 30secs and then I change, but I do the change as quick as possible which is easy for me coz I use just one cloth wipe. Just open it, and hold it there until after he pees to actually remove it

There’s something called a pee pee teepee lol it’s on Amazon look it up! Everyone I know who has a boy swears by it.

Open his nappy and use a wipe, gently blow on his lower tummy, or wave the nappy, then close the nappy. You could also wipe with a wipe and then lay it over him so he pees on the wipe and not you. Have a clean, nappy open and ready to go, so the switch from old to new is quick. My kid is nearly 3, and I can count on one hand the number of times he has peed on the table or me. Peepee teepees are an uncessary gimmick. Don't waste your money. Good Luck Mumma.

I wipe the top/front of his diaper area with a baby wipe before actually opening up to change him. The cold from the wipe mimics the cold air they feel when we open the diaper, causing them to pee. I'd try that a few times. Just remember to wipe a few times and maybe blow on the area to make it cooler. And wait a minute or two before opening the diaper. Give him time to pee lol
