Gestational Diabetes and Insulin

Hey everyone! My doctor has recommended starting insulin due to my slightly elevated morning blood sugar levels (I declined the 2 hour test and have been monitoring my blood sugar with finger pricks for a few months). Just wondering if anyone else has started insulin for similar reasons and if there were any side effects. I’m torn on whether to start since one doctor said the levels were not something should would prescribe medication for while the other doctor is ready to start insulin. I’d love to hear your experiences. Thanks!

I’m expected to start soon. I’m currently wearing a blood sugar sensor and doing morning finger pricks. I did IVF so thought I was done with needles, but no such luck.

This pregnancy and my last I had GD and I was never put on insulin. Just had to keep track of my lvls and what I ate.

My levels were highly elevated in the morning. I was told to eat protein before bed — what worked for me is yogurt (10g of protein) and apples with peanut butter. I had to eat both for blood sugar to come out regular in the AM

My last pregnancy, I had gestational diabetes. They started me on a pill called metformin. Then I had insulin, but the night I took it, I went into labor. Good luck
