Teething

Anyone else’s little one struggling with teething pains at night. Our little girl sleeps though from 6pm - 7am but last week or so has been crying and unsettled in her sleep. (She stays asleep but needs help to settle down such as her dummy putting back or someone to pat her etc) I have tried giving her some calpol to help ease the pain at night but she still cries. Any ideas for help?

Yes same here but we’ve had two bottom teeth cut through the gums so for us that’s what the sleepless nights/restlessness was about! He’s much more settled now they’ve poked through, I’m giving the Nelson’s or the Ashton and parsons teething powder/granules consistently as a preventative hoping it keeps the pain at bay enough so that it doesn’t peak at bedtime! And put teething gel on a teether rather than putting it on his gums (because it’s like he knows) I’ve also put a muslin with a damp corner in the fridge for him to suck on and he seems to like that! He feeds to sleep but also needs the patting and me there to comfort him when he’s feeling the pain at night time to send him off, then if the teething pain wakes him it’s another sachet of granules and sing him to sleep holding him and doing a little jig 🤣 xx

We had 2 nights of middle of the night wakings and then the tooth came through and she’s back to sleeping through the night. I’m not sure was Calpol is as I’m in Australia but I’d recommend looking up the side effect of pain relief on bubs gut biome’s if it’s pain relief. Frozen breastmilk tethers and damp cloths to suck if help during the day as well as a lot of cuddles and breastmilk top-ups

Ashton and Parsons powder rub on gums and calpol helps my 5 mo and it did with his older sister too but it's something I know I'll have to put up with until a tooth comes through and only when all teeth are through that it calms down for my daughter it wasn't until 1 and a half yrs old haha so just need patience and a lot of sleepless nights eventually it'll all calm down so just cuddle and reassure them through it all

@Bella do you have any recommendations on natural pain relief? I heard clove oil can help but will need to look at how to use on a baby. Calpol is like baby paracetamol in the U.K. I’m not particularly a fan of it but have resorted to it when nights have been bad to get little one to sleep (having one of those nights now 🥴) xx

@Gabriella might give the Muslin in the fridge a go ! I looked at the teething powder but she has a milk allergy and it says it contains lactose so I’m hesitant to try the powder with her x

@Courtney lots of cuddles for sure! She’s fine in the day just restless at night but not so much that she is fully waking. I’m hesitant to give her the teething powder as it contains lactose and she has a milk allergy x

@Bella calpol is a baby paracetamol pain relief that’s recommended for use with infants in the uk ☺️ Wish I could try breast milk to help her but she is on a prescribed milk due to her milk allergy which has to be prepared at room temp. It’s so hard because she’s fine through the day just at night she is unsettled x
