Got my first diabetes appointment tomorrow

Got my first diabetes appointment tomorrow don't know what there going to do like do I need to keep eating as normal? I know when I spoke to the diabetes midwife last week she said ill be referred to a dietician after I've had baby but I honestly don't know what will happen at my appointment

They will give you a testing kit and you'll have to test your sugars a certain amount of times a day. If your results are fine with your normal diet you can make small changes but if your getting High results you'll have to change what your eating. I can eat pretty much anything without getting a high but I'll get an occasional high fasting number which alot of people need medication to control. Luckily I just need a decent protein snack before bed to control this number.

@Kaylee I've just done my last sugar testing and it says 13.5 which is pretty high x

If you would rather avoid medication, you will probably have to make quite a big diet change then. Avoid carbs, swap to brown bread, limit potato, pasta and rice. Snack on high protein snacks. Join gestational diabetes Uk on Facebook!! They have lots of fantastic tips
