Potty training

When are you guys going to start potty training? Or slowly introduce it? My girl sometimes is interested but then isn’t. I’m not trying to rush it though

I was planning to try around Christmas when I know we will have more time at home. I’m about to have a newborn, otherwise I would try now, but I’m trying not to add too much chaos at once. We moved him to pull-ups a couple of months ago and he always tells us when he poops and he will watch us use the restroom. Over the next couple of months we are going to just encourage the language use more so that he knows toilet, bathroom, toilet paper, stuff like that. Fingers crossed all goes as planned😂

@Abigail I’ll have a newborn soon too! She tells us when she goes potty, will hit her diaper like she needs changed. And is interested when we use the bathroom. She puts the little toilet seat on the toilet herself to sit on it but then gets off it in like 5 seconds lol then will shut the toilet lid and flush😂 so she’s getting it but just doesn’t actually use the potty yet lol

Omg she’s ready😂 I’ve heard just doing a few days of them without underwear or diapers or anything basically forces them to learn. Might be worth the shot! Since I have a boy, that terrified me. There will be pee everywhere hahaha

We just introduced it to my 1.5 year old! No pressure just exposure. I take her with me when I go potty so she can hear and see. The other night after the bath she sat on the potty and pooped but hasn’t since. But she is making the connection that that’s where we go potty! I think we’re gonna try to have her fully potty trained by 2! But if she’s not ready, I won’t push it!

I also agree with Christmas time/winter time. Less on the go & home more - Midwest winters anyway, keep us home a lot lol

@Julia yeah that’s how I feel about not pushing her but I think she’s really getting it just by watching us use it. I’m not in a hurry but it would be nice to get her out of diapers to save some 💰 for this new baby lol

I feel that! My fiance was like let’s get her potty trained by Christmas and save some money lol, but I have no expectations of her! Just want her to feel comfortable

When I see the signs of being done with diapers. Such as ripping them off consistently more dry diapers etc

I sit my daughter on her potty all the time but I’m not mentally prepared to do it yet … I tried last week. Went through 2 pair of underwear in less that an hour and pooped in one… I said yeah I’m not doing this yet lol But going to try again soon

We started at 13 months and introduced a small potty on the floor. We incorporate it into our routine so he uses it every morning and before bath every night. We still use diapers but are at least getting him so comfortable with it and trying to teach him the language skills to be able to communicate when he has to go (we’re not there yet though!).
