Consultant led appointment

Hi all, Just had a really horrible experience with a junior doctor in maternity making me feel stupid for attending due to reduced movements. I’m consultant led due to a few risk factors and have a growth scan coming up in a few days at 28 weeks. This doctor pointed out she is covering the same clinic I’m due to attend and I really don’t want to have the same experience again. can I request to see a consultant or someone else this time? I haven’t seen a consultant at all yet during this pregnancy. This is my first baby and not sure what to expect or what I can ask for! Thank you

In my experience there will be multiple doctors at the clinic and you’ll be seen by a nurse/midwife first to do blood pressure etc then they pass your notes to the doctors. You could mention to them then and I’m sure they’ll accommodate you!

When you attend the clinic tell the receptionist or midwife for you not to be seen by that doctor. There's normally a consultant and a few junior doctors who do a clinic at the same time. It shouldn't be an issue. Sorry you had a bad experience xx

Just ignore the junior doctor and get seen as many times as you need to if you're worried. Imagine if that junior doctor made someone feel stupid and the next time they hesitated to get checked and there was something wrong 🤦‍♀️ better safe than sorry. I was consultant led with my second baby (craigavon hospital) and all of the growth scans were carried out by a consultant (not a doctor or midwife). Hope it goes smoothly!

I was consultant led in my first pregnancy in Ulster and I think I maybe seen the actual consultant once. All other times was a mixture of other consultants, doctors or those in training
