Universal credit and not returning to work

I’ve decided to be a sahm until next year, my partner works full time and we get a little help from UC, do I need to update UC that I’m not returning to work because my maternity has ended? My maternity ended in June and I haven’t been receiving anything from work obviously so do I need to put a change of circumstance or just don’t bother as I’ve not been having a wage since June anyway and UC have not questioned it?

Would you be entitled to it if your partner works full time I’m in the same situation and always thought I wasn’t eligible due to him working full time x

If your current assessment is based on nil earnings for you then it should be correct. I'd check what income details they were currently holding. You should get a breakdown each month. They have links to HMRC which is why they probably haven't questioned it. You should still notify of any changes though and not rely on them finding out for you.

@Courtney i only get 100/200 a month it’s very little but it helps but also depends on your partners take home pay, mine works Monday-Friday and takes home just over 1200, your allowed to take home £617 without affecting your payment and anything after that they take away 55p for very £1 you take home, also depends on your age if you’re over 25 you get a higher allowance too x

@Helen thank you I’ll just put it through then just in case but yeah it is nil earnings for me x

@Sophie oh perfect thank you I’ll have a look in to it more xx

@Courtney you’re welcome, it’s definitely worth looking into it even if you go for a meeting to see what you can get, I didn’t think I could get anything but I have so far, if you have a house of your own you’ll also get more than me, I live with parents atm which affects my payment too due to no bills x

Yes you will need to update your journal x

@Jasmine thank you xx

@Courtney basically when I was working I was coming home with 1200- 1300 every month and uc would top up 500/600 every month to cover my rent but I was a single parent and full time with 3 kids also but being in a relationship shouldn't effect it to much I don't think as I know.couples who claim and one works
