Tonie box, yay or nay?

I’ve seen a lot of people rave about these but I don’t really understand what they’re all about. I’m just looking for gift ideas for my LB for Christmas. Are they worth the money? Or are they just a fad?

We were thinking about this for our little one my sister swears by it. But I think it'll all depend on the attention span like I think my LB will just remove and place remove and place down the characters. If that made any sense

@Rytasha yeah that’s what I think about my LB. Don’t get me wrong he loves his bed time stories and sits and listens, but we also love that part of the day with him. I’d hate to replace books with it! I’m so stuck because I literally can’t think of anything else to get! But then don’t want to buy this for the sake of it 😫

Nothing beats a book if I'm honest.. the only way I would invest in one is it I deffo knew we was going to like it they very expenny once you've brought a few Tony's x

We personally love ours it’s used most days, we have lots of story books before bed and on lights out she listens to a tonie!

We still sit and read with her after pjs, then she selects a Tonie story and goes to bed with it. Honestly for us it has been great as we used to have to go sit in the room with her untill she fell asleep.

We do exactly the same as above. We still do bath and story time every night without fail (primary school teacher and know the importance of reading) but then she chooses a tonie to listen to falling asleep. We bought it when her baby brother was born and it was absolute god send. Worth every penny in my opinion

I think it’s good. The Disney figures are the best and play a lot of music and they are cute collectibles. We don’t use it to replace bedtime stories but usually have one on while he’s in the bath and getting ready for bed so we can have a song song then when in bed it’s time for a book x

My little girl loves hers, loves both the song ones and the story ones. It doesn't replace books as we still read to her, but she'll often have a dance party or have a story or songs on for her babies

@Kya this is really interesting as we're still staying in bed with our son after reading til he falls asleep... Is your daughter in a bed? I just worry about my boy getting up if we're not there, also is there a timer or it just runs for a certain amount of time?

@Georgia she is still in a cot, but she is a stickler for routine so I don’t think she would get out if she wasn’t (but who knows) So different to tonies vary in length, for instance The Gruffalo is only about 15 mins so sometimes she will call out to pick another one when it ends. Or others are an hour or so she will fall asleep and it will run until it ends and shuts off. You also have the creative one that you can record on so he can feel like you are still there.

I've been thinking about a tonies for Christmas too but then saw Yoto. I've read a few blogs on the comparisons and think I'm going to go for the Yoto just because they are so expensive, people say they grow out of the Tonie quicker 🤷‍♀️ I don't think the Yoto is advertised as much

Thanks everyone! Will have a chat with my husband and see what he thinks x

Another vote for a yoto player here. We have the mini, he got it for Christmas and for a good while all he wanted to play was the nursery rhymes card, we would sing along with it (he won't sing.. ever) then we noticed when he's laid in bed he's singing it to himself. He knows how to change the songs with the dials and which order they come in. He likes listening to it while he has breakfast. Now he loves listening to stories on it, the cards are so handy and we have them on a loop attached to the player so he can swap. He listens in the car. It never replaces a book and we read lots of them but he loves his player. It was a good send on holiday this year as he listened to the music while nodding off in the pushchair.

It’s good my daughter was all about it… but as with any toy she loves.. interest does eventually fade.. after about 3-4 months she didn’t care anymore and last used it maybe a month ago
