Weaning!

Has anyone given their 5 month old any 6 month old jars? My LO is so hungry she’s ready for food but they don’t do many jars for 4 months plus so can I give her the 6 months as it’s only a month away!?

If she's very hungry have you tried increasing her milk intake? Wanting more doesn't necessarily mean they're ready for food. How much is she currently drinking?

@Ayesha she’s looking at me and my partner eating and trying to take the spoon😂 she’s also been having the 4 + month jars and she’s loving them she’s had porridge in the morning she’s having milk as well but after her milk she’s hungry she has a whopping 8oz she drinks the lot!😂😂😂

Ahhh okay. My son was the same but HV mentioned that looking and wanting what you're eating isn't a sign of them being ready for solids, they're just curious and want to do what you're doing. We upped our sons milk and he was drinking around 10oz each bottle before we weaned him at 6 months. He's coming onto 20 months now and eats everything we're eating. I'd personally just increase her milk but speak to your HV and see what they say.

I’d wait to 6 months really

I make my own baby food, but both my kids were approved by their pediatrician to introduce solids at 5 Months. Try to wait until their next appointment to ask about it. I get it, both my kids aggressively wanted to try solid foods. But the important thing to remember is that milk is their nutrition. Solids is for fun under 1.

Not trying to be mean or anything, but maybe try cooking a sweet potato or mixed veg and blending it? I weaned my girl at 5 months bc she was more than ready. I used to blend bananas and avocados, loads of veg etc And she’d have a few spoonfuls. It did my pockets some good & got me more confident in coming up with different meals for her as she got older. It’s worth trying! Just no gluten before 6 months!
