Potty Training

Have you started potty training yet? Baby just turned 2 and we are expecting another baby in Winter. Dunno if this a good time to start or just wait until baby is here and wait for that transition. Were not in a rush honestly.

Following! My son is turning 2 Sunday and we are expecting another in February! I work at a daycare so I’ve seen some kids have a potty training regression after the new baby and want to know how to not do that 😅

We recently tried and bailed on potty training. My son started holding it in for entire wake windows which I just didn’t think was healthy. He’d pee through during naps and bedtime bc he had been holding it all day. We tried for 3 days before bailing. We are going to wait a couple of months and try again, but do it per our pediatricians advice where we keep him in diapers all day and put him on the potty after meals or when he usually has to go

we tried for 3 wks and then bailed. cus our son stopped showing interest. if you have a boy they are a lot harder to potty train than girls are. my son's doctor told us to have him come into the bathroom with us and watch how the toilet is used. weird... but he already comes into the bathroom when I'm using it. 😂 she also told us it normal for boys at this age show interest and then not show interest. it would be nice to have him potty trained but yk cant force him to do anything he doesn't want to do. just celebrate when your little one goes in the big girl/big boy toilet. we're going to try again when our baby is about 7 months (crawling) hopefully it'll be easier to potty train our toddler by then.

Same boat here. I have a two year old boy and I’m due in December. My sister recommended that I wait due to regression. I’ve read to wait at least 3 months after the baby is born. I’ve heard boys are harder than girls. So I’m already in the mindset that it will happen when it’s supposed to and not stress myself out about it.

@Cameron Ooh thats a good idea, I will have to ask our pedi for tips too. Was he having accidents or just holding it? And how did he communicate that he needed to go?

@Tau I praise yall for atleast trying! I had nephews who didnt get trained until much later really. I think they were around 3 now that I think about it.

@Shelby Yes! I feel the same way. Its been a thought since most parents around me have been thinking or starting and im over here like Meh! Haha I know it will be a lot but 2 babes in diapers is fine with me. I am due in Dec too and from Bay Area! If you want a chatting Mama lmk :)

We read “oh crap, potty training” she’s been doing well! They def need to communicate to be able to do this method but she caught on really quick. Prior to that I also always told her when I was going potty and she’d come with me. It’s been a very positive experience for us. Also, we had our second baby in July and I 100% wanted to wait till after he was born to adjust. I think she’s enjoying the positive reinforcement and attention she’s getting from being potty trained.

Our son had accidents the first day but days 2 and 3 he was holding it in completely. And I could tell he had to go but didn’t want to. The first day he was curious about the toilet but would tantrum any time you sat him on the toilet days 2 and 3
