Christmas Presents

Okay guys, need your advice. I’ve been married to my husband for a year. Last his mother got me a shirt of Shien. 4 sizes too big after she asked for what size I wore because she didn’t think it would fit :). She bought him like a flannel or something. I wouldn’t be mad about the money part, except she then sends us pictures of all the new jewelry she bought herself. Constantly saying how it’s soooo expensive. Like okay? So you have money yet you only spend it on yourself? It’s not necessarily that money is a big deal, but my parents spent just as much on me and they did him the past couple years, and we both got thoughtful gifts. I feel like his mom just makes no effort. Also, I got her a personalized sweat shirt last year, that said grandma with her grandkids names on it. I thought that was kind of thoughtful ? This year, should I also get her a shirt off Shien 4 sizes too big? Or just like a generic cup off Amazon that says grandma or something.

I’d just get her a gift card to a restaurant she hates lol

She obviously doesn’t value gifting as a way to show love, unless it’s self love. So while I wouldn’t go with the shein option, I would just scale presents right back for her. Still be thoughtful but just keep it low key.

Buy a $5-$10 candle in tjmaxx, Burlington or marshals. Make sure it looks like you were uninterested in getting her anything

My Aunt is very much like this. She'd buy her siblings those calendar diary's from the pound shop for Xmas or buy me & my sisters the ugliest tshirts on the sale rack. Everyone just preferred if she bought nothing lol She is very frugal but would then spend loads of money on solo holidays. You learn not to expect much from them. But I would give the same energy, get something cheap & generic & don't think to much about it lol

Here are a few ideas for “thoughtful” gifts you can get this year 😉 * Anti aging cream, * a pill box (for all her medication she will need as she is getting old) * the most ugly nightdress you can find * a hot water bottle (old people need to stay warm 😂) * a book you know she has read (😂) If she wants to buy you crap just buy something awful (but “thoughtful” l) back lol
