Telling your job your pregnant

When did you guys tell your job you’re pregnant? I am in the middle of trying to get this raise. But I am not sure when it is too late to tell your boss. I am currently 25 weeks pregnant.

I told my work after my first official ultrasounds. Good luck with the raise.

Oh week 8 or 9 already I think

I told them early as I work with cancer patients and chemo drugs so I had to tell them to make sure I wasn’t handling hazardous substances. It sucks that you’re in a situation where you’re worrying about missing out on a raise due to pregnancy 😔

This topic is what has been most difficult for me to handle during my pregnancy. I told my boss in week 20. He takes it well but I work as a contractor designer so basically when I take my "license" I won't have payment and I don't know if I'll come back after having my baby because although I think my boss would be willing to come back I don't want to continue working as an outsider

Around 14 ish weeks I was up for a promotion and told them the next day after accepting 😂😂

My contract says you have to contact and tell HR as soon as it is confirmed by a doctor (usually 8 weeks). I'm a public school teacher. But many jobs have it written somewhere in your contract

I actually just told my job at 25 weeks. I just started this job as I got layed off from a previous job in July due to budget cuts in July. I told that previous job at 4 weeks lol but just bc my boss and I were close, didn’t tell my coworkers etc. until 12 weeks

Lol I found out at work my boss is basically my mother 😭😭 She still treats me like her associate though. No special treatment. She’s been cutting my hours and my paycheck been suffering. I was 5 weeks and 6 days pregnant when I found out/when they knew.

@Angie wow, that seems strict. Are there repercussions if you wait longer?

I told mine as soon as I hit my second trimester, but everyone is different. Some wait until there’s no hiding the bump no more. Just be sure you give them enough notice to put in your request for maternity leave

I told mine end of first trimester but my boss already guessed it and was super excited for me. Granted, I had a bunch of fertility appointments so at some point she put two and two together. 😅😅

I’m 24 weeks and I still haven’t said anything, I talked to a co worker who recently had a baby and she said it’s usually 30-60 days notice, that’s what she ended up giving. So I’ll probably tell them as I enter my 3rd trimester or a little earlier than that. I work from home so there is really no reason for them to know and giving them 3 months notice is plenty of time.

@Ellie yeah, if you tell them later, it technically breaks our contract which allows them to not offer you a position back the next year

So ironically my main supervisor was in town and in my job when I found out, so I told my boss, and hr same day I found out ... And my husband was doing orientation with my boss/hr so he found out at the same time but it's our third so it's a oops moment but we had talked about a third a few days before finding out...
