First finger foods

We are on a very slow weaning journey with a very gaggy baby. He is getting the hang of melty sticks now after lots of practise. What did people find were the easiest finger foods to start with in terms of least gag inducing/least choking risk? My baby is good at picking up the food and getting it to his mouth, it’s the handling it in his mouth and swallowing that he struggles with.

My little one got much better using the melty wafers and melty puffs so I used them for a while then I began introducing avocado and banana as they’re really soft and easy to mush, now she’ll eat anything tbh but as long as you can mush the food in between your fingers your baby will hopefully get the hang of it after a couple of weeks!x

Broccoli stalks or carrot sticks (steamed or boiled) to chew on, kiddylicious wafers, slices of toasted crumpet

The baby rice cakes are good and you can top them with soft cheese /peanut butter/hummus for extra nutrients

Toast & butter was my go to, really just sucked it to start with.. 🤍✨also, have you tried the dummy feeder things, we really started with these to get used to different tastes first, banana, avacado, yogurt frozen, raspberries ♥️ tenderstem broccoli is good plenty to hold on to & banana, TikTok hack with keeping skin on & just taking a little of the top - it is fab! Good luck! Xxxx
