Sandwiches

How old can a toddler be to start eating sandwiches such as PB&J? Does it depend on age, skill level, or amount of teeth?? Should I cut up bite sized pieces?

My daughter been eating peanut butter sandwiches since about 9 months old so toddlers shouldn't have any issue. I always cut sandwich into small pieces so they easy to grab for her

They can eat any solids from the age of 6 months. My 2 year old has been eating proper sandwiches since he was 1.

We do bite size pieces or cut the sandwich into quarters. He does fine either way but I feel that he eats more when its in small pieces

I would definitely recommend using creamy peanut butter initially, especially if they don’t have all their teeth or they don’t have a lot of experience with nuts.

Not really no, just as soon as you're comfortable giving it to them. My 2 year old loves peanut butter on toast or in a sandwich & I like her to have it as often as possible because I recently read a study that said giving it to them twice a week until age 5 can protect them from developing a peanut allergy for life.

Just do a thin layer of peanut butter as it can gum up with soft bread. I do this with thinly sliced Strawberries on top and use a shape cutter that presses the sides of the bread together to hold it all in!

@Jenny like a homemade uncrustable?! I see that on TikTok and that’s what I want to make but idk how he’s going to understand how to hold it and eat it

@Lindsay yes, just like that but healthier and cheaper lol. It all depends on their ability. If they are good at biting and chewing or prefer stick like foods to finger foods it should be fine. Honestly I just started making these for her and she mostly just squishes it and picks it apart, lol. But it's good exposure and food exploration for her so idc! Like everything they will eventually get used to it, or decide they don't like it at all lol

My son started liking them when he was almost 2, idk why he rejected them before but my second loves everything and eats them already at 12 months, just offer and see what happens

10 months? It all is a blur lol but before she was 1. But with mashed berries instead of jelly

I would say from 1 personally depending on if there is any additional needs. I have not attempted to give my 12 month old a sandwich yet due to gagging & choking on solids
