Baby Led Weaning

I’ve just started weaning but my baby is not interested when I try to feed him myself, he likes to grab/hold & feed himself. What foods did people start with for baby led weaning?

we did soft/easy to chew things like lightly buttered toast, avocado & banana

I’d recommend downloading the solid starts app, it will show u how to prepare to prevent choking. I started with vegetables and then moved on, they say to offer a food 3 times (allergen) to be aware if they react. A reaction can start 20 mins to 2 hours later.

I second the solid starts app, they’ve also got a website and instagram. I would type in whatever I was going to make for myself and make a baby-safe version for her. A good rule of thumb is if you can easily squish it between your fingers, it’ll be soft enough for baby to eat. Anything that is round, either mash flat (eg chickpeas) or cut into quarters (eg grapes). You can also do traditional things like purées as part of baby led weaning, I would preload her spoon and set it next to her for her to pick up and feed herself. She never let me feed her except on rare occasions when she couldn’t shovel the food fast enough herself 😂😂
