Glucose test and fasting

Are we supposed to fast before the glucose test ? I have my test tomorrow at 9:00am, I can’t remember the instructions and it’s too late to call 😅

I was told no food past midnight for my 9am tomorrow

My midwife said it was fine if I ate something in the morning. I fasted for 12 hrs anyways though.

Depends on the doctor. Mine told me just not to eat 2 hours before but I didn’t need to fast.

I've never had to fast

I ate and passed! It was also a morning test. I had only eggs and avocado. Wouldn’t recommend eating a carb heavy bfast. Also the liquid made me feel horrible but I vomited after the test was done and felt fine again. The nurse gave me that tip so sharing in case its helpful for you!

I did mine last week and didn’t have to fast. I ate breakfast in the morning right before. You just can’t eat or drink during the hour wait after you drink the sugar drink

I did and I passed !! They recommended me eggs and coffee no sugar

They should give you instructions. Or it should say fasting in the lab order. My 1hr was non fasting. It's a good idea to eat a nice, healthy breakfast with protein and fiber in that case. The 3hr was a fasting with no food 8-10 hours ahead of time. Good luck!

I was just told not to eat anything before I come in but I wasn’t told to fast or anything. She told me if I do eat something eat something light, no bananas (or fruit in general) or orange juice could spike my sugar even something as little as a bagel could affect it

She told me if I failed I gotta be there for 3 hours and I’ll have to get pricked 4 times all together I was like yeah no so hopefully I pass when I go to my next appointment

Oh yikes, I have mine at 9:15 tomorrow too and I haven’t been fasting…

No fasting for the 1hr test, 10hr fast for the 3hr test

Thank you everyone for your answers 🙂

I was told 12 hours for my 3 hour test. I did not have to fast for the 1 hr.

I had to fast for both my 1 hr and 3 hr test. I just did my 3 hr today.🙃

Mine told me I didn’t need to fast, just not to eat an hour before. And I failed 🙄 I’m so annoyed bc I do not have time to go for THREE hours now.

My doctor told me for the hour one you dont have to fast. For the 3 hour one you do fast because they take your blood fasting.

I ate two eggs and a chicken sausage two hours before mine and passed! My midwife just said protein rich breakfast beforehand.

I didn’t fast I just ate something healthy and I passed with a 72

No, mine said I was fine to eat and drink. I had a frappe and breakfast sandwich right before mine.
