Eating out

I want to take my little one to a cafe for lunch just me and him but I’m worried he’ll make a HUGE mess when eating now that he’s accustomed to a whole lot more food. He also has a habit of throwing foods. Any tips to help?

I just go round under the table with baby wipes and clean up as much as I can. My baby’s a food thrower and sometimes I’m actually quite good at catching it before it hits the floor 😂

Same as above, most places have been absolutely fine and have insisted we leave it for them but I always clean the bigger bits and leave it tidy.

I’m a cafe owner and mum of a 1 year old very messy eater. We don’t mind at all and completely understand babies and children are going to make a mess. We are used to it, don’t judge and absolutely understand. So don’t let it put you off ever. So Many mums ask for our brush and shovel and I always insist we do it as it’s enough work getting out the door and making sure your baby gets fed. Go for it! 🥰❤️

Babies are messy and everyone knows it. Just be polite and make an effort to clean up afterwards, even if it is just gathering everything in a pile, then most places are happy to do the rest. I try to at a minimum "sweep" things out of where people will walk on them and potentially be a slip hazard. So many servers/waitstaff are surprised if I have fully cleaned up after LO and myself, but its ingrained from being one myself at uni. Potential tip which has worked with my LO at times when out, only give them access to a small amount at a time. As they finish one little pile/bowl, they get a top up (i make sure he can see the big amount, but can't reach it, so he knows there is more if he wants it. There is then less for him to play with and throw if he isn't hungry anymore.
