My husband is trying to lose weight…

My husband is trying to lose weight, and has been doing it by not eating very much and then when he does eat he’s eating meat and high fat foods like bacon, egg etc. technically it’s similar to a keto/atkins diet. He currently weighs approximately 18 stone and is 6ft tall so he is pretty overweight. We have been buying the food that he wants, which makes the food bill more expensive because meat is so expensive now. But he wants me to cook his dinners too even though we have a 21 month old and a 4 year old. I’ve said I don’t want to cook more than 1 type of dinner in the evenings, because there’s so much to do, I work part time and my LB has also just started school! I consider that I try to give my kids a balanced diet, I try and encourage veg and fruit as much as possible but feel it’s too much having to cook a separate meal for him! Can anyone offer any thoughts?? Am I being unfair? Xx

No I don’t think you’re being unfair! I think he should cook his own meal 🥰

No that's understandable, just trying to get one meal cooked can be hard. Can he have a variation? So what you have without the carbs? Also worth checking out muscle food for meat, apparently meant to be great quality and cheap x

My partner is the same and has different foods throughout the day I do make them all for him as well as my own and my daughters but I enjoy it, I like looking after people x

Idea 1: Can you meal plan with him? That way he can have part of the main dinner so you’re only cooking one thing? Idea 2: Ask him to cook some meals and see how he can deal with cooking multiple things, hopefully it’ll give him an insight into being a little more flexible. Idea 3: if he is having such simple things like high fat meats, can he notJust shove these on an oven tray himself? Not everything has to be fried, is there an “easier” way? I use my slow cooker as much as possible.
