Has anyone started potty training yet? If so how have you started? Not really sure how to make a start.

I haven’t yet. I’m thinking I might try to do it over the Christmas break when I’m at home for a longer period. My daughter goes to nursery for 4 days and they say at least 3 days at home. I’m planning to get a potty for upstairs and downstairs and a travel potty and then I’ll just ask her and put her on the potty every half an hour. I’m going to make a rewards charts and have a distraction box for next to the potty. No idea if there’s a better way of doing it or whether I’m right or wrong or even if she’s ready but I’ll be chatting to her nursery as well

We Havnt started yet but have bought potty’s if she asks to go on it we let her but she hasn’t actually done a wee on it yet. But heard it’s good to get them familiar with it also it’s such a novelty atm she wants to Use it like. Million times so hoping it wears off by the time we start and she only wants it when she needs it 😂😂

Not yet, I bought a potty weeks ago just to get her used to it but she has zero interest in going near it 🫣

I’d highly recommend the oh crap potty training book. I used it with my eldest and found the method worked really well. I’ll be following it this time around too.

I have just started getting the potty out for my LG but only because she’s showing signs of being aware of pooping and she loves sitting on the toilet pretending to have a wee and getting the toilet paper etc etc. so she’s showing signs of being interested. She’s also my second child so has her brother to look up to - he’s 4. I always say to people asking about toilet training, every child is individual. Never feel pressured to toilet training, just do it when you know your kid is ready 👍😊

We have been dry day and night since the middle of August, we started at the end of July but she was so so ready. We got a little toilet with steps for Xmas for her so it was familiar and I took advantage of the warm weather we had one week and just kept her naked and gave her lots to drink and ice lollies etc and just kept reminding her every 10 mins to go. We soon smashed day time naps by going before and soon as she woke up. And then coincidentally after 2 nights dry in a row she told me ‘no nappy’ and been dry since. She goes before bed, then I take her again about 1am and she usually wakes me up about 8/9ish saying she needs to go. That’s just our routine that works for us but every child is different and will be ready at different rates, I know being dry at 19 months is a rare thing so don’t let my experience make you feel like you NEED your little one to be potty trained. Get a travel potty, keep it out to familiarise them and just keep it fun and lighthearted with no pressure!

My little one has started grabbing the front or back of his nappy and saying wee wee if he’s doing something. I bought the Nuby toilet which is currently sat in the living room. He knows he goes to it and will sit down and say wee wee. His nappy is still on and he will only say something when he’s actually doing something so he’s not completely ready. I am however speaking to him more and saying ‘wee wee in the toilet’ to which he runs over and sits down
