Potty and wiping

I am planning on potty training my son the week after his second birthday in October. Am I asking him to wipe himself or am I doing it for him? When do they start cleaning themselves if not immediately? Thanks so much!

No, that's not something they can be expected to do themselves straight away. You teach them to do that when they are a bit older. Maybe 3 or 4 I would say 🤔

They won’t have the actual dexterity required to do that for some time. Probably closer to 4.

Nah wipe for them to start with at that age or if you want to introduce the learning, we gave my step son tissue/wipe to try and we would wipe clean properly. He's 4 now and tbh still needs the help or AT LEAST checking. He'll try now and sometimes do a good job. Other times we end up with poo all round the bathroom. Work in progress 🙈😂

Thanks so much all! Super helpful!

I’ve been teaching her to wipe herself but I make sure to still wipe after she doesn’t make sure it’s clean
