Child benefit… confused?! 🤔🤦🏼‍♀️

Does anyone else not got their child benefit on the same day/date every month? When I first had my daughter it was consistent and roughly the same time every month but now it’s all over the place. It’s not even the end of September and I already have the next payment. Also why is it never the same amount…? Like I said it was consistent the start with and now one month is different to the next. I’m in no way saying I’m not grateful for it or complaining I’m just confused. I can’t budget the money properly if it’s not consistent. If anyone knows anything and can help me understand I’d really appreciate it. 🙃

It’s because you get it every 4 weeks not once a month. So this month for example I will get 2 payments as I was paid the first Monday in September and then the last Monday as there are 5 this month. It’s just how it falls sometimes x

@Jessica it’s so annoying because I’ve budgeted for the money from the start of next month not a 3rd of the way through this month. 🤦🏼‍♀️.

I get mine weekly so it’s always the same unless it’s bank holiday then I get it earlier

@Sam yeh, I tend to get mine appear in my bank on the weekends which is really odd. Even when it’s not a bank holiday too.

Yeah when you apply for it you should have had to select if you wanted it every 4 weeks or biweekly so just calculate 4 weeks later is when you'll get it. It also went up in April so its £25.60 for the first child a week now

@Natalie that explains the increase then but I did seclect monthly I just didn’t assume it would be every 4 weeks. It’s a right pain.

I’m sorry, what do you mean by child benefit?

@Shareese this is a UK group, it's a financial benefit they give out in England to help with child essentials

I get mine 4 weekly aswell x
