Potty training

Any tips on how to get me 2.5 year old to not be so scared of the potty?? 🤦🏽‍♀️ Even mentioning it she runs away in fear n but she’s so ready, always tells me when she’s going and wants to be changed immediately but just won’t use the potty or toilet. Thanks!

My little one is exactly the same!

I’d maybe say she isn’t ready. Maybe just leave the potty in the bathroom. Get her to come in with you when you go to the toilet. Leave it there before bathtime etc.

I agree with @Scarlett , leave it in the bathroom and whenever you go to the toilet take her with you. Celebrate even if she just sits on it (with or without doing a wee) I used to do this first thing in the morning and before bedtime at first and increased gradually before baths /dinner etc. We did this for quite some time before actually starting full on potty training just to get our daughter familiar /comfortable with the potty. Heya! A rewards chart. Get her to stick a star on her chart even if she just sits down on the potty or washes her hands. Slowly build up her confidence with stars and praise til she eventually goes. I also found placing the potty next to the toilet helped and you go together. Also don't ask her 'do you want to do wee on the potty' instead say 'OK time to do wee on the potty with Mummy, let's go'!. Good luck!! Xxx

@Hayley we had the rewards chart too… my daughter loved placing the stars on it… we used this when we fully started potty training. X

Thankyou everyone :) xx

I started by getting my boys on the potty and reading a very short story, then moved it into the bathroom so in the morning we all sat on the toilet/potty and have a chat lol
