midwife

hello, i’m 32 weeks pregnant with my first baby and have only seen my midwife 3 times, (12 weeks, 24 weeks and 28 weeks) during my last appointment at 28weeks i was told i would see her again until 36 weeks! i don’t believe there should be a gap of 8 weeks between appointments at this stage? she is aware i have lost my mucus plug, baby is head down, and i have regular braxton hicks, is anyone else’s like this? is this normal? x

I'm pretty sure you should be seeing the midwife at 32 weeks. I assume you're not under a consultant? This is the schedule that should happen: https://www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/your-pregnancy-care/your-antenatal-appointments/

You should be seeing your community midwife in between hospital ones

I would give your maternity unit a call in the morning and urge for an appointment ASAP - you should be seen every 3 weeks from 26 weeks (I think) and every 2 weeks from 36 weeks xx

Sounds about right except you should have a 32 week, I'm being treated as a first time mum and I have an appointment every 4 weeks to 36, then I believe it's weekly from 38 weeks 🤔

I saw my midwife at 28 weeks then again at 32 weeks and I’ll be seeing her when I’m 36 weeks x

Definitely shouldn’t be a gap between 28 to 36 weeks! Should be one appointment between that at least

Is it a community midwife or NHS hospital based? They work differently

I had 8,16,24,28,31 and another booked for 34?

You should have one at 31 weeks if this is your first baby… x

Are you having any extra scans or consultant appointments in between at all? If so it may negate the need to see your midwife as they may do the same checks / have the same discussions as you would have with the community midwife x

@Rheo this had been my experience too, or very similar

@Jess yeah along with the 12 and 20 week scan at hospital. I just assumed that amount was normal x
