Baby of the Year legit?

I entered my daughter because I thought it was being judged by a panel. Then I got the email to share her link so I've shared it with a few people. She's in 8th in her group right now. I've since seen that there is some apprehension about this contest and I want to make sure it's legitimate. I entered her because Jessica Alba has promoted it and I also thought it would be a cute keepsake for her to see herself in a magazine when she gets older. If we won, the money would go to her and she could use it however she pleased once she turns 18. Just wondering others opinions on this. Don't scare me just so I drop out and your baby wins though. Lol. I want this to be a productive conversation that poses legitimate concerns or reasons why it's legitimate.

Everyone is seventh and eighth in their group it sounds like. But the big thing is, you can buy votes. So it really comes down to who is willing to spend the most money on this.

@Emilie yeah. I mean, she went from 24th to all of the sudden in 8th once I shared her link with family and friends (not to my social media but to select fam/friends). I'm wondering though if all the babies are in this placing because people have dropped out with the fear of it not being legit? And then in the next round it might start to be more of a competition? I don't know. I want to keep my daughter in it but I'm not paying for votes and I don't want my family/friends to either. I liked the idea of it being judged by a few people, not by the amount of followers or money (which defeats the purpose of part of the prize) someone has. Is it true that even if your baby doesn't win, they can use your baby's photos afterwards for anything?

I’m not sure. My baby isn’t in it so I haven’t read the fine print, but that’s what I’ve heard on Reddit

I think she’s just 8th in her “group.” No idea how many groups there are.

@Rebecca that's what I meant. Which is why I'm wondering if everyone is placing around 8th because people in their groups have dropped out this round and it might become more competitive in the next round when people are actually being active with voting each day, if that makes sense.

from what i heard it isn’t legit. there’s a lot of groups so every baby who gets first place in their group end up having to compete for votes against each other in the final round etc and in the end it’s probably celebrities or influencers kids who end up competing for votes/or the rich who pay for the votes. so it’s not a really fair system. it’s rumored that you don’t even get the money but chances are whoever wins doesn’t even need it

@quiddo yeah I have heard that there are some celebs who have entered their child. I'm like, wtf are you doing?
